IMGT® is the international reference in immunogenetics and immunoinformatics. IMGT® was created by Marie-Paule Lefranc (Montpellier University and CNRS) in Montpellier in 1989. It is specialized in the sequences, structures and genetic data of immunoglobulins (IG) or antibodies, T cell receptors (TR), vertebrate major histocompatibility (MH) proteins, proteins of the immunoglobulin (IgSF) and Mh (MhSF) superfamilies of vertebrates and invertebrates, fusion proteins for immunological applications (FPIA), and composite proteins for clinical applications (CPCA).

IMGT® includes 7 databases, 17 interactive tools, and more than 25 000 pages of Web resources.

Application Portfolio:

IMGT® is used by academic and industry researchers who work in different research domains:

  • Basic research,
  • Clinical research: high throughput analysis -IMGT/HighV-QUEST- of antibody repertoires and of the sites recognized by T cell receptors in normal (infection, cancer) and abnormal immune responses (autoimmune diseases, immunodeficiency disorders) and in proliferative syndromes (leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma),
  • Veterinary research: studies of the IG and TR repertoires in domestic and wild species,
  • Genomic research: studies of the diversity and evolution of adaptive immune response genes,
  • Structural biology research: evolution of the domains of IgSF and MhcSF proteins,
  • Biotechnologies relative to Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) projects and antibody engineering (single chain Fragment variable scFv, Fab, combinatorial libraries, phage display, chimeric, humanized and human antibodies),
  • Research for the diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic follow-up of patients with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma (identification of the malignant clone(s) and evaluation of the residual disease),
  • Therapeutic approaches (grafts, immunotherapy, vaccinology).

Access and service policy:

IMGT® access is free for academic researchers and through a CNRS contract for R&D researchers of pharmaceutical companies. IMGT® has the GPTR and IBiSA labels. IMGT® is a member of the Cancéropôle Grand Sud-Ouest, of the GDR CNRS BiM and ACCITH, of the Labex MabImprove, of ELIXIR Europe, and of the Global Alliance for the Genomics and Health (GA4GH). IMGT® is an institutional academic member of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) (since 2006).

IMGT® has the ISO 9001 and NFX 50-900 certifications.
